2024 US Lacrosse National Tournament

The following is information regarding the DC Metro region of the US Lacrosse Schoolgirls National Tournament. If you attend a high school in the Potomac Chapter of US Lacrosse, you may be eligible to try out for the DC Metro team.

Who is eligible? 

Current 9-11 grade players are eligible for nomination. It is the responsibility of the varsity head coach to determine which of his/her players will be nominated each year. The varsity coach will distribute the registration link to those player/s he/she nominates. No one other than the varsity coach should distribute the registration/nomination link.

Registration
Varsity high school coaches will send the registration link directly to the players they wish to nominate. Registration will open on Monday, March 11, and close on Monday, April 8, 2024. No registrations will be accepted after that time.

Tryouts:: Date/Time

Tryouts will take place on Sunday, April 14 at Episcopal High School in Alexandria Virginia. Once registration is closed, players will receive an email detailing tryout information. This email will be sent by Wednesday, April 10. This year we will hold tryouts from 9:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.

Tryouts:: Results

After the April 15  tryouts, we are required to submit tryout results to US Lacrosse for their review. Once we receive the OK from US Lacrosse we will post the results on this site. We aim to post results by April 30 but can not guarantee that date.

Team Placement

Athletes will be rostered to their team based on their scores from the April 14 tryout.  In the event of a tie score, the tie will be broken by comparing scrimmage scores.

​In 2024 DC Metro will look to roster three with the potential of a fourth team. ​

Team Practice
We will have team practice May 12 and May 19 time and location TBD.

IMPORTANT

-All athletes will be evaluated and scored based on their performance at the 2024 tryouts and team placement. No consideration will be given to prior experience or team placement. 

-Players will be evaluated based on the position they register for. This is also the position they will play at the National Tournament. If you need to change your position, please email Janet McCormick prior to April 8. ABSOLUTELY no adjustments will be accepted after that time. 

-Tryouts will consist of a combination of drill stations and scrimmage play. 

What to Bring

You will be emailed with specifics after registration closes. When you arrive head to registration with $60 cash or venmo.  Please wear dark shorts (navy or black) and a plain white t-shirt. Please make sure there are no high school, club or college logos of any kind on your apparel. Players who do not comply with apparel guidelines may be asked to remove or reverse the item. All athletes will be given a tryout pinnie to wear over their t-shirt. Absolutely no jewelry.  Of course, please bring your stick, goggles, mouth guard, water bottle, cleat/turfs (tryouts are on turf) and snacks. 

Participation Policy (from US Lacrosse)

If a player does not fulfill her commitment to participate in the US Lacrosse National Tournament*, including participation in every scheduled game, the following penalties will be imposed:

1. Players will not be allowed to receive any US Lacrosse honors (ie: All American and /or Academic All American, All Star Game) and are banned from participating in the US Lacrosse National Tournament for (1) year.

2. If multiple players from the same school do not participate fully or if there is a second violation by a player from the same school within a (3)-year period: then all players from that school will be deemed ineligible for any US Lacrosse honors or participation in the National Tournament for a period of (1) year.

*If a player becomes injured a medical note is required
